Seems like a butterfly, stings like a bee

Several pundits already are likening today's L.A. County Democratic ballot to the butterfly fiasco of Palm Beach in 2000. I hadn't yet read about the problem facing independent and decline-to-state voters when I went to cast my own ballot. Now I understand the confusion. It could even be bamboozling some registered Democrats as well because of that line that asks a voter to check Democrat. If a party-affiliated voter does that BEFORE reading the instruction that directs him to skip to the roster of candidates, does that vote go on the heap?
Another election-day dilemma: I voted at an elementary school this afternoon (thinking I was avoiding the early morning rush). Instead I rolled up just as the school was letting out for the day -- who knew? -- and had to hunt hard for a parking space. Hate to think of anyone passing up a chance to vote for this reason. Yo, county registrar elections officials: Is it possible next fall to get at least a few parking spaces at these sites tagged for voter use only?
