When it isn't news

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa did not make any real news when he was interviewed by Charlie Rose for Public Broadcasting the other night, repeating many of his stock answers.
Among them, that he is not thinking about the 2010 governor's race and is focusing on seeking re-election as mayor in 2009.
It is the same statement he has made in every interview since taking office in 2007, when speculation about a potential run for governor was first advanced about him.
But, it did not deter local television stations from chasing him down on Friday to get him to say the same thing. Again.
