Traffic woes need unified solution
Urging the San Fernando Valley business community to take the driver's seat in the region's transportation future, Los Angeles city and county officials called on Wednesday for more advocacy for federal and state money and contributions to road-clearing solutions.Sue Doyle in the Daily News.
Since a large chunk of the 72 extra hours each Angeleno spends every year idling in traffic bottlenecks involves trips to work, public officials said businesses must become part of the roadway fix.
"The government alone can no longer tackle this problem," said Los Angeles City Councilwoman Wendy Greuel, chairwoman of the council's transportation committee. "We have to do this together."
