City's ban on pot shops overturned

A judge ruled Monday that the city's ban on new medical marijuana dispensaries was illegal, a decision cheered by vendors but one that city and county officials said would not get in the way of closing down shady operators. Daily News.

Superior Court Judge James C. Chalfant granted a preliminary injunction sought by Green Oasis, a medical marijuana collective that sued the city last month. Chalfant ruled the City Council's extension of an initial ban on new dispensaries violated state law.
