New city anti-poverty program

Responding to long-standing complaints about a confusing and ineffective system for helping the poor, city officials on Monday unveiled a revamped program that provides a range of services from a single location. Daily News.

The FamilySource Program will launch Jan. 4, administering $18 million to a number of lead agencies and subcontractors _ including 15 in the San Fernando Valley. Officials say the program will be able to help 50,000 needy families.
