Dreier comments on 20th anniversary of fall of Berlin Wall
Rep. David Dreier last week offered the following comment on the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall:
"The fall of the Berlin Wall was a momentous achievement for freedom loving people across the globe. It was the result of people's unyielding desire for freedom and dignity and the support they received from the United States and others.
"President Ronald Reagan's demand that the wall be torn down sent a powerful message that freedom was not only possible but essential for all people.
"Twenty years later, our work continues with emerging democracies, from Afghanistan to Colombia to Indonesia. Working together in a bipartisan way, the House Democracy Partnership is working with emerging democracies to promote responsive, effective government to strengthen democracies and assist parliaments.
"Even today, parliamentarians in these countries are inspired by the events in Berlin twenty years ago."
Dreier is a Republican who represents the 26th District, which includes Montclair, Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, San Antonio Heights, Claremont, La Verne and San Dimas.
