Pomona museum will feature motorcycle exhibit Saturday
POMONA - Vintage and classic motorcycles will be the focus of attention Saturday at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum.
The museum is in Building 3A on the grounds of Fairplex, 1101 W. McKinley Ave. in Pomona.
The second annual Indian Motorcycle Day will be part of California Bike Week activities taking place at Fairplex.
Saturday's museum activities will include displays of 100-year-old Harley-Davidson motorcycles and, Indians, the nation's first motorcycles, according to a statement from the museum.
Also, Sam Wheeler will offer a free seminar at 11 a.m. Saturday on building and riding a motorcycle that can reach speeds of more than 300 mph.
Two years ago Wheeler rode a Kawasaki-powered E-Z-Hook Motorcycle Streamliner that he built in the Bonneville Salt Flats and reached a speed of more than 355 mph, the statement said.
Another display offered Saturday will include a custom motorcycle display by Shinya Kimura who created the Samurai Chopper and founded Zero Engineering.
Museum admission will be free Saturday and those who arrive on a vintage or classic motorcycle will get free admission to Saturday's Bike Week festivities.
Motorcycle Day activities at the museum will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
