POMONA - Adults 50 and older as well as people with chronic diseases are invited to prepare for the winter season by having a free flu shot Saturday.

The drive-through flu clinic put on by Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center will begin at 8 a.m. and run until about noon or until the vaccine supply runs out.

The clinic will be offered at the hospital's employee parking lot at 360 Vinton Ave., which is across from the Robert and Beverly Lewis Family Cancer Care Center.

Persons wishing to have a flu shot should wear short sleeved clothing, according to a hospital statement.

Children will not be vaccinated at Saturday's clinic.

Flu shots are recommended for people 55 and older as well as adults with chronic health problems such as pulmonary or cardiovascular conditions, including asthma.

People who have undergone treatment this year for chronic metabolic disease, including diabetes, renal problems or suppressed immune systems should also consider having flu shots.

Also, persons who care for adults or children should have the shot.

People who are allergic to eggs or have serious illnesses should go to their physicians for flu shots.

For information on the drive-through clinic call (909) 865-9669.
