POMONA - As part of National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week, the Pomona Continuum of Care Coalition will have a gathering Wednesday evening in southern Pomona.

The gathering begins at 6 p.m. at the recently renamed Tony Cerda Park, formerly known as Madison Park, on Park and Grand avenues.

Homeless individuals who have died within the last year will be remembered at the gathering. Information on the effects of the economy on those that rely on food bank assistance will be shared.

Those in attendance will also receive information on steps residents, church congregations and community groups can take to address the problems of hunger and homeless in the region.

Information will also be available on services such as area food banks and winter shelter programs.

The Pomona Continuum of Care Coalition is a partnership that includes faith-base organizations, non-profits and government agencies.
