POMONA - Members of the Pomona City Council will meet tonight (Thurs. Dec. 4) to certify the results of last month's City Council elections.

The meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Pomona City Council Chambers, 505 S. Garey Ave.

Council members will certify the results of the election in which District 5 Councilman Elliott Rothman was elected mayor, Danielle Soto was elected councilwoman for District 1, Paula Lantz was re-elected to the District 4 council seat and Steve Atchley was re-elected to the District 6 seat.

During the meeting council members are expected to discuss how to fill the District 5 seat which will become vacant when Rothman takes over as mayor.

Rothman takes over the seat that had been held by Norma Torres who did not seek re-election in order to run for state Assembly. Torres was sworn in Monday to the 61st Assembly district seat.

A ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday in the City Council Chambers where Rothman and Atchley will be sworn into office, said Aida Quevedo, deputy city clerk.

Soto is expected to be sworn in at a ceremony scheduled for Dec. 13 in the City Council Chambers. A time for the ceremony had not been set as of mid-day Wednesday.

Lantz is expected to be sworn in in the City Clerk's office some time before the City Council's next regular meeting on Dec. 15.
