Members of the California Electoral College met in Sacramento Monday afternoon and Assemblywoman Norma Torres, D-Ontario, was there to vote for President-Elect Barack Obama and Vice President-Elect Joe Biden.

Torres is one of 55 electors in the California Electoral College having been appointed by Rep. Grace Napolitano, D-Santa Fe Springs, according to statement distributed on behalf of Torres.

"This is a great moment in our nation's history and I'm proud to have done my part to help elect Barack Obama as our next president," Torres said in the statement.

Torres began supporting Obama from early on in his race for the presidency and campaigned for him in the days leading up to the Iowa caucuses.
