POMONA - Beginning Nov. 16, the open portion of Pomona City Council meetings will start at 6:45 p.m.

Council members voted Monday to start meetings at 6:45 p.m. and end by 9:30 p.m., according to a staff report.

Should it be necessary, council meetings can be extended until 10 p.m. with a vote of the majority of council members.

The closed portion of the meeting will still begin at 5:30 p.m. and will end by 6:45 p.m.

Council members will limit their comments to three minutes on agenda items, the report said.

In those instances where numerous members of the public wish to speak on an agenda item, speakers will have two minutes to speak rather than the customary three minutes, the report said.

People presenting an application for a project or appealing a decision will be given "a reasonable period of time to present his or her matter as necessary to meet any due process requirement as set forth by law," according to the resolution approved by the council.
