Pomona councilwoman suggests Fourth of July activities

POMONA - City Councilwoman Cristina Carrizosa on Monday night brought forward the idea to have a city-sponsored Fourth of July function.

"It seems to me in Pomona we don't do anything for Fourth of July," she said. "Why don't we do anything? Not even a simple gathering outside City Hall."

Carrizosa also inquired whether there were any plans to decorate City Hall for Christmas.

Mayor Elliott Rothman asked for city staff to place both matters on a future agenda along possible associated costs.

Carrizosa said activities don't need to be eleborate.

"We don't have to go overboard. We can start small," she said.

Dear Christina,

I've attended Kaboom at Fairplex in Pomona with my kids since the ninties.

They loved the carnival rides and fireworks show. This last 4th, my son, now 20 years old enjoyed the Monstor Truck show.

We have been going to Fairplex on the 4th of July for over 10 years for the Kaboom event.

That is some great 4th entertainment in Pomona! Would you like directions?

I have produced the fireworks for the Kaboom event held on July 4th at Fairplex in Pomona for over a decade now. This event is a ticketed show for those that choose to see the wonderful pre-fireworks entertainment Fairplex provides. The fireworks themselves are enjoyed by many members of the surrounding community. I have heard many rave reviews by a number of citizens that go on top of Kellog Hill to watch the show.
