Garey 49, Pomona 47
Trailing by one point, Andre Charles made a basket, was fouled and made the ensuing free throw with 15 seconds left to lift the Vikings (1-1) past city rival Pomona (1-2) on Thursday night. Charles led Garey with 12 points, while Charlie Lem added 10. Jose Castillejos scored 15 points to lead host Pomona.
Mace Adame blocked Pomona’s final shot attempt in the winding  seconds.
