ARROYO VALLEY TOURNAMENT
KAISER 4, KNIGHT 3
Vanessa Lenart singled home Chelsea Hoban with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Kaiser softball team beat Knight 4-3 on Wednesday to advance to the semifinals of the Arroyo Valley Tournament.
Sophomore Lizzi Pulido struck out eight and walked two in a complete game for Kaiser (2-0) and junior Marquis Lozoya went 3-for-5 with two RBI for the Cats, who will play Summit Thursday at 3 p.m. today.
Carter 8, Victor Valley 0
Sophomore Kayla Alfaqir’s hit a solo home run as the Lions defeated the Jackrabbits in the second round. Alfaqir also had nine strikeouts and Rebekah Creekpaum drove in a pair of runs for Carter (5-0).
Summit 5, Woodcrest Christian 0
Olivia Fimbres drive in one run and hit two doubles in the Skyhawks’ (4-0) victory over the Royals in the second round.
Summit will play Kaiser at 3 Thursday at San Gorgonio.
Rim of the World 3, San Gorgonio 1
Elizabeth Caporucio went 2-for-3 and scored one run and Erica Printice had five strikeouts for Rim of the World (3-0) in the 3-1 victory.
Catcher Kat Kolde had an RBI double for the Scots. Rim moves on to the semifinals March 6 while San G. (1-1) faces Valley View at 7 p.m. Thursday in the consolation bracket.
DUARTE CLASSIC
Etiwanda 17, Baldwin Park 0
Stephanie Tarango finished 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and three RBI to lead the Eagles (4-0) over Baldwin Park (2-2. Maggie Karros struck out eight in three innings to get the win. Liz Santana was 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Etiwanda advances to Friday's championship game at 7 p.m. against Covina.
CORONA TOURNAMENT
Corona 1, Fontana 0 (10 inn.)
Fontana lost in extra innings in the semifinals after the intenational tiebreaker was set in place in the ninth inning. Nicole Soltis went 2-for-4 for the Steelers.
