YUCAIPA WINS IN NATIONWIDE TOURNEY

The Yucaipa High baseball team overcame four errors and posted a 7-4 win Monday over nationally ranked Christian Brothers (Tenn.) at the prestigious Anderson Bats National Classic at Esperanza High School.
Yucaipa led 4-3 and got some insurance with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. That made a winner of reliever Frankie Martin (3-0), who came in for starter Scott Snodgress in the fifth.
Martin struck out four and gave up one unearned run in 2 innings. Snodgress struck out eight and gave up five hits and three runs (two earned).
Brock Alexander and Aaron Jones led the offense with two hits each. Jones had a run-scoring double in the third. Chad Erickson had a two-run double in the first and Wyatt Padgett had two RBI despite not getting a hit.
Yucaipa (8-2) will play the winner of Cottonwood (Utah) and Orange Lutheran at 7:15 tonight at Cal State Fullerton. Right-hander Adam Miller (1-0) will be on the mound.

ANAHEIM LIONS TOURNAMENT
Chino Hills 5, Cypress 4
The Huskies edged Cypress, the 22nd-ranked team in the state. Zach Collier had three hits and two RBI and Phil Holingsworth added two hits and one RBI.

Long Beach Wilson 9, Chino Hills 5
This time the Huskies collided with Wilson, the preseason-No. 1-ranked team in the state. Collier again led the way with a home run. He had a home run in both games Monday.
Chino Hills (10-3 overall, 2-1 in tourney) meets Thousand Oaks at Boysen Park in Anaheim at 10 a.m. today.

ATASCADERO TOURNAMENT
Alta Loma 13, Morro Bay 8
Austin Keenan went 2-for-3, driving in three RBI for the Braves in the double-elimination tournament.
Ryan Cunningham went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI and scored twice.

Alta Loma 13, Atascadero 3
Justin Parriman drove in two runs and Mike Abel went 3-for-5 with a run scored and a pair of RBI for Alta Loma.
Alta Loma advances to play today at 1 p.m. with site and opponent to be determined.

COACHELLA VALLEY TOURNAMENT
Redlands East Valley 10, San Jacinto 3
Griffin Murphy had three hits for the Wildcats, including a home run.

Redlands East Valley 4, La Quinta 0
Junior Jeremy Perez pitched a no-hitter for the Wildcats (9-1), striking out nine and walking nobody. Tyler Chatwood hit a double and a triple.
REV meets an undetermined opponent at 1 p.m. today at Palm Springs High School.

ST.PAUL TOURNAMENT
Ontario Christian 4, Mary Star of the Sea 3
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Rich Cervantes singled home Eric Zaragoza to break a tie game and lift the Knights (7-5) to the victory.
It was the Stars’ first loss of the year against nine wins.
For Ontario Christian, Mike Annunziato went 2-for-2 with two RBI, including the game-tying single in the sixth inning. Zaragoza finished 2-for-3.

NONLEAGUE
Upland 13, Ontario 2
Asebedo went 3-for-4 with two triples and five RBI as the Highlanders (11-0) won on their home field.
Nick O’Loughlin added a home run and Ryan Goodman smacked two doubles for Upland, which collected 17 hits.
