UPLAND RIDES ON 2ND INNING TO DEFEAT COUGARS

Matt Redfearn went 2-for-3 with two RBI as Upland (13-2, 6-0), which rode a four-run second inning to a 5-3 victory over visiting Rancho Cucamonga 5-3 on Thursday.
Brian Kujundzich (5-0) struck out six and walked two in 6 innings for the first-place Highlanders (13-2 overall, 6-0 Baseline League), who host Claremont on Tuesday.

BASELINE LEAGUE
Etiwanda 5, Los Osos 3 (9)
Artie Solis capped a four-run ninth inning for the Eagles (10-7, 3-4) with a pinch-hit RBI single, as Etiwanda was able to hold off the Grizzlies in the bottom of the inning.
Richard Brehaut and Ryan Halstead each had two hits for Los Osos (9-6, 3-4), which scored two in the ninth before falling.

ARROWHEAD LEAGUE
Upland Chr. 17, La Verne Lutheran 7
Ethan Chapman went 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBI to lead the Eagles (7-9, 5-0) past visiting La Verne Lutheran in a game shortened by the mercy rule.
Matt Johnston had two hits and four runs scored

CHRISTIAN LEAGUE
Aquinas 14, Western Christian 5
The Falcons (9-8,4-2) matched the Lancers five-run first inning with an eight-run fourth inning to run away with the victory at Citrus College.
Chris Beauchamp sparked that inning with a bases-clearing triple then followed later that inning with a double. Jimmy Jones bailed out his fallen teammate in the first inning, relieving him in the second inning and allowing no runs with six strikeouts to complete the game for Aquinas.

Ontario Chr. 8, Arrowhead Chr. 0
Clay Kindred pitched a complete-game four-hitter, striking out six, for the Knights (12-6, 5-1), who maintained their hold of first place in league.
Mike Annunziato had two hits for Ontario Christian while R.J. Freehling knocked in two runs. ACA fell to 6-9, 2-4.

SAN ANDREAS LEAGUE
Pacific 10, San Bernardino 7
Beto Espinoza went 4-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored for the Pirates in a victory over the winless Cardinals (0-16, 0-7).
Jordan Gomez drove in two RBI with his triple for San Bernardino.

NONLEAGUE
Alta Loma 10, Woodcrest Christian 2
Aiika Kohler homered and singled, batting in two runs, to lead the Braves (12-3) past the Royals Wednesday night at UC Riverside.
James Allard also collected a pair of hits and RBI for the Braves, who broke the game open with a six-run outburst in the fourth inning.
