TIGERS GROWL in 10
Monea Ruiz walked with the bases loaded in the eight inning to break a 1-1 tie and push Ontario High School to a 3-1 Mt. Baldy League win over Chaffey, snapping the Tigers’ 10-game softball winning streak.
It was the first league loss for Chaffey (11-4, 9-1).
Kelani Tusha singled to open the rally and moved to third on Genevieve Estrada’s second hit of the day. Two walks forced in a sun and the Jaguars (12-6, 7-3) added an insurance run on an error.
Vivian Young scattered three singles inthe victory, stranding the go-ahead run art third in the bottom of the seventh inning.
CITRUS BELT LEAGUE
Redlands East Valley 8, Yucaipa 5
Raylene Coronado went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI, also earning the victory throwing six strikeouts for the Wildcats (11-8, 6-3).
Amy Nece was 3-for-3 with four runs scored for third-place REV.
Alyssa Haron went 4-for-4 and drove in a run for the Thunderbirds.
Redlands 7, Fontana 1
The Terriers were led by Miriah Graham who was 3-for-3 with 3 RBI and Savannah Garcia who hit a towering homerun in the 3rd to drive in three. The win now gives the Terriers a 3 game lead in first place with five left on the season.
Kim Bruins picked up her 15th win for Redlands (18-2, 9-0) which plays at Eisenhower Friday at 3:15 p.m.
Miller 7, Rialto 5
Samatha Dodd had three hits while winning pitcher Amber Berg and Mistie Jones each batted in a run on two hits as the Rebels (13-8, 5-4) defeated the Knights (8-12, 3-6).
Brianne Evans had three hits for Rilato, as did Rosario Ramirez.
SIERRA LEAGUE
Ayala 7, Chino Hills 1
Jessica Hall drove in four runs and scored once to help her pitching effort, also throwing nine strikeouts for the Bulldogs (16-8-1, 4-1).
Amy Ricciardi went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI for first-place Ayala.
MOJAVE RIVER LEAGUE
Rim of the World 4, Sultana 0
Erica Prentice (12-0) maintained her perfect record but a two-out single in the seventh inning by Serena Espina cost her a no-hitter as the Scots (14-1, 7-0) defeated the Sultans (5-12, 3-6).
Elizabeth Caporuscio blasted a three-run homer in the second to aid Prentice, who had 12 strikeouts. Jennifer White’s first of two doubled knocked in the other run.
SUNKIST LEAGUE
Kaiser 10, Summit 9
Kaiser pushed across five runs in the third and cruised to a 10-0 win over the SkyHawks in a league game shortened by the mercy rule.
Vanessa Lenart led the Cats (13-8, 8-2), going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Lizzie Pulido and Priscilla Martinez also had two hits each amd Samantha Trujillo clubbed a two-run homer.
Winning pitcher Alyssia Palomino (8-3) struck out seven and gave up just two hits.
BASELINE LEAGUE
Etiwanda 4, Upland 2
Lorae Robinson strked a two-out sinngle in the second inning to break a 1-1 tie and Evangie Galindo added another run-scoring hit as the Eagles (15-3, 8-1) turned back the Scots (15-5, 6-3).
Maggie Karros (14-3) won the duel with Whitney Jonmes, scattering four singles.
Alta Loma 8, Rancho Cucamonga 7 (9)
Olivia Wilcox worked Countery Conrad for a bases-loaded single in the ninth inning as the Braves (13-8, 6-4) defeated the Cougars (10-10, 3-7).
The Braves tied the game on a bases-loaded walk to Dana Drummond in support of Devan Dean (9-6). Melise Brown and Adrianne Beltran had two hits each for the Eagles.
Alexa McPhearson batted in two runs for the Cougars while Adrienne Monka doubled twice and Melissa Gregson had two singles.
