BROUSSARD GOES THE DISTANCE IN BRAVE WIN
Alta Loma 4, Etiwanda 2
Senior Geoff Broussard went the distance, earning his fourth victory on the mound as the Braves (16-3, 8-2) defeated the Eagles on the strength of Mike Abel’s three-run homer.
Ricky Oropesa finished the day with two RBI viaa two-run homer for the Eagles (10-11, 3-8.
Rancho Cucamonga 10, Claremont 9
Rancho Cucamonga erased a nine-run deficit with two runs in the fourth and eight runs in the sixth.
In the sixth, Greg Gwotztz drew a two-out walk with the bases loaded to bring home Kyle Noble, who tied the game at 9-9 with an RBI double.
Danny McNabb went 2-for-4 with three RBI for the Cougars (10-12, 5-6) and Kyle Barry went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Claremont (10-11, 4-7) scored all nine of its runs during the second, third and fourth innings.
Upland 7, Los Osos 6
Upland, down to its final out in the seventh inning, rallied for a win over Los Osos on a two-out single by Frankie Christian in the eighth inning.
The Scots (15-4, 8-2) are tied for first with Alta Loma. The two teams will square off in a three-game series next week beginning Monday at Upland Memorial Park at 3:15 p.m.
Los Osos (10-9, 4-7) had taken a 6-4 lead in the top half of the frame, with Arby Fields slamming a solo homer against winning pitcher Tim Pompierski.
CHRISTIAN LEAGUE
Arrowhead Christian 1, Aquinas 0 (9)
Jeremiah McMahon, who went 3-for-5, executed a squeeze bunt with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Jeremy Eldridge, who went 2-for-4.
Michael Kerins went 2-for-3 for ACA (8-12, 3-5) and Elias Gomez 2-for-4.
Jimmy Jones struck out 10 in six scoreless innings for Aquinas (12-9, 7-3).
Western Christian 20, Loma Linda Academy 2
Robert Wiley and C.J. Beatty each had four hits for the Lancers (12-9, 7-3) while R.J. Pabon went 2-for-5 with a triple and four RBI.
Two of Wiley’s hits were doubles, helping lead to three RBI. Loma Linda fell to 5-14, 0-8.
SAN ANDREAS LEAGUE
Cajon 2, Arroyo Valley 0
Aaron Brooks (6-1) scattered three singles, recording seven strikeouts, as the Cowboys (18-3, 10-1) increased their league lead over the Hawks (12-7, 7-4). He did not allow a runner in scoring position.
Brandon Swanson doubled twice, while Cameron McCullough and Jordan Becker each had two singles.
San Gorgonio 24, San Bernardino 4
Patrick Moore went 3-for-4 with four RBI for San Gorgonio (16-5, 8-3), which scored 14 runs in the fourth inning.
Alex Rueda went 2-for-5 with four RBI for the Spartans and Adam Quintana 2-for-3 with three RBI.
San Bernardino fell to 0-11 in league.
Colton 13, Pacific 6
Alex Carrillo drove in three RBI and scored three times for the Yellowjackets.
NONLEAGUE
Upland Chr. 13, Hesperia Chr. 0
Ethan Chapman went 3-for-3 with a triple, double and three RBI for the Eagles (11-10, 8-0) victory. Matt Johnston struck out 13 in his two hit complete game shutout for his first-place Upland Christian.
