After scoring just one field goal in the second quarter and clinging to a one-point halftime lead, Covina High School boys basketball coach Will Bissman spoke with his point guard and floor leader Mike Peters and told him to go to work.

That’s exactly what Peters did, scoring eight of his game-high 19 points in the third to lead Covina to a 63-58 victory over visiting Pioneer in the first round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 3A playoffs on Wednesday.
