Glendora High School’s first-round woes are a thing of the past.
Senior guard Kyle Gordon scored 26 points and the Tartans held host Whittier to 25-percent shooting and Glendora won it’s first CIF-Southern Section playoff game in three seasons with a 57-37 victory over the Cardinals in a Division 2A game at Perry Gym.
The Tartans, also getting 12 rebounds and six points from senior center Alex Pink, improved to 20-9 and advanced to face either Baldwin Park or Leuzinger in Tuesday’s second round.
Whittier, getting 14 points from senior Juan Quintero and 12 from Willie Pittman, finished 16-11.
