The Real Gridiron Gang
Took a trip out to Camp Kilpatrick this week to meet the real Gridiron Gang for an upcoming story. Most years, no peerless prognosticator worth his salt would pick Kilpatrick before Week 5, since that's how long it usually takes the team to round into shape. The camp fields a new team each year and has 30 days in pads to get ready for the season.
But this year's team looks pretty far along. And the Mustangs bucked all of our predictions last week with a 20-10 upset of Brentwood.
The victory was keyed by defense. Linebacker Bryant Hicks had seven sacks, an interception and returned a fumble for a 70-yard touchdown.
I cried through this whole movie. My daughter is 15, and she has been involved with gangs, drugs, stealing cars, and has had three VERY serious suicide attempts, one even put her in a coma for a few days and it is a miracle she came out of it with no brain damage. I try to remind her when she says "why me" that the bad things in life don't happen for no reason. She can take those bad things and they can either make her or break her, it is HER choice, she has the power to choose her destiny. Well, she is doing a lot better, in fact, she is the one who convinced me to watch this movie. If there is any way to support these kids, I don't know if donations are accepted, but I would definately like to donate anything I can. I have a habit of contributing to worthy causes, and this is definately on the top of my list now.
After watching the movie I had to come to this site. This was one of the most inspirational true stories I have ever watched!! I am proud to be an american with this kind of action with our youth!! Thank you to all who made this happen and thank you to the youths involved!!! I agree that they are all winners no matter if they win the game or not!!!! GO KILPATRICK!!!!
