Varner new Canyon HS football coach

It's official: Chris Varner, 29, is Canyon High's new football coach, replacing Harry Welch, who resigned last month after winning two consecutive Northern Division titles.

An annoucement is expected Thursday.

Varner, who coached Canyon's JV the past two seasons, has been guided the Cowboys as interim coach since Welch left.
