CIF gives thumbs up to continue State Bowl series

| | Comments (0) |

Officially, the CIF State Bowl Championships is two-year pilot program, but the football series probably will last a lot longer.

On Thursday, the Southern Section -- largest of the CIF's 10 divisions -- approved its support of the bowl series matching the best teams from the north and south in three divisions, and a vote at the state meeting Oct. 26 in Long Beach will decide if the series will continue indefinitely.

It llooks good, said Southern Section spokesman Thom Simmons.

"We've decided to instruct our members to support its continuation," Simmons said.. "For me, i haven't heard any negativity at all associated with the bowl games, so that's always a good thing."
