Got a disturbing e-mail today and thought I'd spread the word so all of you can be on the lookout:

MEMORANDUM

TO: All school administrators

FROM: Thom Simmons, Director of Sports Information

RE: Inappropriate photos

It has come to our attention that there are at least two photographers on water polo pool decks taking pictures of student-athletes. We believe these photographers are putting these photos to inappropriate use. Although there is nothing the CIF Southern Section office can legally do to stop this, we believe that you as individual schools, can.

Please be vigilant to any out of the ordinary behavior by photographers on your pool decks. Question those taking pictures without credentials (the photographers in question are not CIF-SS credentialed photographers). Be on the lookout for anyone taking pictures of only pool deck activity and little to none of the action in the pool. Finally, please take some time to look on various water polo and video web sites to make sure your student-athletes photos are not being used in this manner.

Should you have any further questions on this issue please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience.
