Jermaine Dansby, a top sophomore for Community Charter in Lake View Terrace, has given a non-binding verbal committment to UC Santa Barbara, even though he plays for a City Section small school with just 265 students.

He's averaging 19.3 points and 12 assists, albiet mostly against light competition.

"Jermaine Dansby is the most underrated, under-the-radar player in Southern California," Community Charter coach Les Bean said. "He's a superb ball-handler and very poised with an excellent feel for the game. And he's one of the best ball defenders in Southern California. We scored 31 points in a loss to Santa Margarita, one of the top two teams in the state, and Jermaine scored 22. That gives you an idea of how good he is."
