Girls Basketball: Thousand Oaks, Good Team and Young

| | Comments (0) |

I just done covering the Newbury Park at Thousand Oaks girls basketball game.

Thousand Oaks won 61-53 after leading by 18 points in the second half.

The Lancers are now 6-3 in league and just two games behind league leader Royal of Simi Valley.

If Thousand Oaks doesn't realize its potential this season, it definitely will next year.

Sophomore Jenna Bandy scored 25 points including nine in the third quarter and made all of her six free throws down the stretch to help the Lancers hold off a late charge from the Panthers.

Freshman Karina Alofaituli contributed 12 points and Thousand Oaks head coach Rick Cromwell called her the best freshman in the league.

Newbury Park has a good one themselves in junior Doris Park-Sherman. Park-Sherman scored 26 points leading a comeback that saw the Panthers close to within five points.
