Hart High star Montgomery kicked off team

Leading scorer Michael Montgomery has been dismissed from the Hart High boys' basketball team, according to a story in The Signal of Santa Clarita Valley.

Montgomery, who was leading the Foothill League with 20 points per game, was assessed a technical foul and committed an intentional foul in last Friday's 82-55 loss to Valencia.

Indians coach Tom Kelly didn't go into detail about Montgomery's dismissal, only telling The Signal that the 6-foot-5 senior was "no longer on the team."

Montgomery told the newspaper that, "Coach (Kelly) felt it was necessary to end my basketball career. It's time to move on and focus on baseball now."

A left-handed pitcher, Montgomery has accepted a baseball scholarship to Cal State Fullerton.
