HS FOOT: Eagle Rock players walk out, chant "Hell no, Chou won't go!"
As planned, Eagle Rock football players and hundreds of supporters walked out of homeroom class at 9 a.m. today and gathered in the school quad, chanting "Hell no, Chou won't go!" in support of former coach Jerry Chou, fired two weeks ago by principal Salvador Velasco.
"There were a lot of people out there ... Velasco came out and said coach Chou will never coach at Eagle Rock again," said one player, requesting anonymity. "He said the administration has no say in the matter. It's (Velasco's) decision."
The player said he and the students chanted: "Hell no, Chou won't go!"
Chou was fired two weeks ago after going 43-7 with two City Invitatonal championships in four years. He remains on campus as a teacher.
A meeting has been set up at lunch today in the auditorium to discuss the matter further, the player said.
Velasco has not returned a phone call seeking comment.
