Boys Basketball: New Teams in Tri-Valley and Frontier Leagues for 2009

| | Comments (0) |

The athletic directors of schools that comprise the Tri-Valley Athletic Association agreed on Tuesday to make changes for 2009.

Instead of one seven team league and one five team league in boys basketball, it was decided that six teams in each league would better serve all schools especially in scheduling.

The only drawback is one guaranteed playoff spot is nixed. The seven team league used to get four entries and the five team league received three into playoffs. Now each league only gets the maximum three entries.

After much debate about how many teams should move up and down in accordance with the two year re-leaguing cycle it was decided that St. Bonaventure of Ventura and Malibu would move up to the Tri-Valley and Nordhoff of Ojai, Bishop Diego of Santa Barbara and Santa Paula would drop down to the Frontier.

The new leagues for 2009 look like this:

Tri-Valley:
Santa Clara
Oaks Christian
Oak Park
Carpinteria
St. Bonaventure
Malibu

Frontier:
Fillmore
Nordhoff
Villanova Prep
Bishop Diego
Santa Paula
Grace Brethren
