Montclair Prep founder Doc Simpson dies

doc simpson.jpgVernon "Doc" Simpson, founder and executive director of Montclair Prep of Panorama City, died Tuesday at Cedars-Sinai, one year after celebrating the school's 50-year anniversary.

An avid supporter of local sports, Simpson helped build Montclair Prep into a sports power, winning multiple Southern Section titles through the years in football, basketball and baseball.

A two-hour memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22. For those who wish to speak at the memorial, call the school: (818) 787-5290, Ext. 15.
