Are we in midst of a throwback era?
There's a trend forming that recalls the protest era of the 1960s, as players are performing acts of civil disobediance to stick up for coaches who get fired.
It continues to happen at Eagle Rock, where the football players today staged another in a series of classroom walkouts in protest of the firing of coach Jerry Chou. Right now, there are more than 200 kids in the quad, instead of the classroom, said one of the players, calling in from his cell phone. (He said he will send me a pic, so perhaps we can post it soon.)
And in Calabasas on Wednesday, the basketball team picketed the school district office in protest of the firing of coach Jim Neilsen. That one, we do have a photo, and here it is ....
