HS HOOPS: Calabasas coach: "I don't understand what happened."

| | Comments (0) |

Calabasas coach Jim Neilsen, fired Tuesday night at a district board meeting, said Wednesday he has been given no explanation, though he confirmed there were three complaints by lodged against him.

"I don't understand what happened," said Neilsen, 58, who remains a campus teacher. "Our principal, our vice-principal and our A.D. all should my contract should be renewed and I should be retained. But it's my understanding as a teacher in this district, they don't have to give you a reason."

In two years, Neilson went 25-28 after inheriting a team that had gone 21-7 the year before. He played at Washington State and is a former five-year Pepperdine assistant and a former head coach at Redondo.
