HS HOOPS: Late run boosts Renaissance to nine-point halftime lead
SANTA ANA -- Renaissance Academy went on a 12-0 run late in the second quarter to help build a 31-20 halftime lead over Price in the SoCal Regional final at Mater Dei High, so it looks good for the Wildcats to advance to the state final in Sacramento next Saturday -- if they can keep doing what they've been doing.
With Renaissance's top inside player, Anthony Stover, in foul trouble with three fouls, junior Deandre Daniels asserted himself, scoring eight consecutive points to start the 12-0 run. He has 10 points, and he has helped contain Tyreese Breshers, Price's star center who has signed with Washington. Breshers has nine points, as Price is shooting just 30 perecent.
