HS BASE: Better than a pat on the back
For 22 years, George Cliffords, father of former El Camino Real baseball standout Woody Cliffords, has continued to present silver dollars for those who hit home runs. He brings a pocketful to every game.
Ex-ECR player Conor Jackson has saved them all and has more than 50 because Cliffords coached him in Pony League, too.
“Lately I’ve had to switch to two half-dollars, though,” Cliffords said, “because the price of silver has gone so much that silver dollars were costing me more than four dollars.”
