HS BASE: Hey, who turned out the lights?

Lights-out-cover.jpgIn a Mission League game Wednesday, St. Francis and Loyola were in the bottom of the eighth inning with none out at Brookside Park in Pasadena when the lights automatically shut off at 10 p.m. with host St. Francis trailing 8-5 with J.P. Nolan at third base and Andrew Yu at the plate.

“Was I mad? Oh, just a little bit,” St. Francis coach Brian Esquival said. “We knew this might happen at 10, so we were trying to get someone from city of Pasadena on the phone to adjust the timer.”

The game is scheduled to be completed Friday at Loyola, followed immediately by a second game to finish a two-game series.

Meanwhile, St. Francis badly needs a victory. Because of defensive lapses, the Golden Knights have lost five of the past seven games to fall into fifth place.
