Crescenta Valley runners on the move in this week's rankings

The Crescenta Valley of La Crescenta girls' cross country team reaped the benefits of a seventh-place showing in the sweepstakes race Saturday at the 28th annual Woodbridge Classic to move from No. 6 to No. 3 in this week's Southern Section Div. I rankings.

Great Oak of Temecula, which finished third behind Saugus and The Woodlands of Texas, moved up to No. 2 behind Dana Hills of Dana Point, which competed Saturday in Hawaii.

Despite a strong showing Saturday at the Ojai Invitational, West Ranch -- 10th last week in Div. I -- was unranked this week.

Along with top-ranked Saugus in Div. II, Simi Valley is at No. 6, Newbury Park is No. 8 and Canyon is No. 9.

Oak Park remained at No. 3 in Div. III, with Agoura at No. 6.

La Reina of Thousand Oaks, which competed Saturday at the Mount Carmel Invitational in San Diego, remained the top-ranked team in Div. IV. Flintridge Sacred Heart of La Canada Flintridge is No. 4 and Oaks Christian of Westlake Village is No. 6.

Following a disappointing showing at the first Prep League meet, Flintridge Prep of La Canada Flintridge is No. 4 in Div. V and Bell-Jeff of Burbank -- which hosts its annual invitational Saturday at Griffith Park -- is No. 6.
