Saugus sophomore runner Kaylin Mahoney was one of 12 finalists selected by Dyestat.com for its top national performance for the week ending Sept. 13.

She is one of seven female runners nominated and the only athlete, male or female, from California to be selected.

Mahoney, preseason ranked No. 13 nationally by Dyestat.com editor Steve Underwood on his list of the top 25 female prep runners in the country, led the Centurions to a record-setting effort Friday at the Seaside Invitational in Ventura.

Mahoney clocked a personal-best 17 minutes, 6 seconds on the 3-mile course to win the sophomore race in class-record time, the No. 2 mark at Seaside in Saugus history and fourth on the meet's all-time performance list.
