HS FOOT: It looks like tonight's Notre Dame-Servite game is a no go

| | Comments (0) |

Some dark news to report here at Cerritos College in Norwalk, as the stadium lights aren't working as Notre Dame and Servite prepare for a scheduled game, and a secruity person is telling spectators they have to leave the standium "for safety reasons."

I talked with the facility electrician, Les Bell, and he said there is a problem with the "transformer" and that he recommends the game be canceled. This was twenty minutes ago, and Bell said he would try one more thing to get the lights on from a different circuit, but it does not look good.

"Nothing like this has ever happened before," said Notre Dame coach Kevin Rooney, in his 29th year.

"It's crazy," said Servite coach Troy Thomas.

It's not clear if the game would be postponed or canceled. I'll try to provide an update -- if my computer battery can hold out, as there is no electricity in the press box either.
