Even with one of its top offensive weapons sidelined, College of the Canyons appeared at full strength in its 42-21 Western State Conference victory over host Allan Hancock of Santa Maria.

Winborn, who ranks second in the state averaging 155 rushing yards per game, sidelined with an undiscloded injury, B.J. Iverson carried the load rushing for 103 yards on 12 carries.

Brad McClellan and Joey Frias both passed for over 100 yards. McLellan completed 7 of 11 passes for 149 yards including a 20-yard scoring pass to Jovan Leacock in the first quarter that gave COC a 7-0 lead.

Frias finished with 139 yards on 5 of 11 passing with touchdown passes of 80 yards to Nate Jones (two receptions for 113 yards) and 35 yards to Hayo Carpenter for 35 yards in the second quarter. Frias also added a six-yard scoring run in the closing seconds of the first quarter.

COC, who averages a state best 530 yards per game, built a 35-7 halftime lead. The Cougars host Moorpark Saturday., Oct. 11.
