HS FOOT: Could Taft-San Fernando quarterfinal be a mud bowl?

| | Comments (5) |

Just checked the weather report for the City Section quarterfinal Wednesday between San Fernando and host Taft, and the forecast in Woodland Hills calls for a 50 percent chance of rain and 47-degree temperatures.

In other words, could be a mud bowl, because as you should know, Taft is old-school -- no artificial turf.

I remember the SYLMAR-TAFT game in 1997 Semi's. I played in that game. That field was flooded to our ankles. It was fun even though we lost 8-6. What a game..

Yeah, that mud bowl in '97 was a legendary game. We still talk about that game at the Daily News sometimes ...

Do you remeber the name Shaun Avalos #3 Sylmar High. I'll never forget that game. One of the best games of my high school career. I'll be at that game hoping that taft loses. LOL...

A wet field will slow down Taft's high speed offense and give San Fernando's defense a chance. Last year in the semi-finals there were two "mud bowls":
Carson 6, Dorsey 0 and Garfield 7, Fairfax 0.

yeah that sf vs. sylmar i mean taft vs. sylmar (majority of the players @taft lived in the sf boundary) was a great game.hey gerry how many people do you think will show up to the game? 200-300? thats how many sf is gonna bring. thats what happens when the majority of the kids are from outside the area.heres a great idea how bout the parents of the skill position players from taft carpool with the sf parents since they live in the same area. hey gerry how bout answering your e-mails once and awhile.
