HS BASE: Lopes on pace to break Valencia home run record

| | Comments (0) |

Valencia sophomore Christian Lopes already has 18 home runs in 39 career games (10 last year and eight so far this season), which means the youngster is well on pace to break Jared Clark's 2004 career school record of 23 -- possibly sooner rather than later if Lopes get hot at the end of the year as he did last season.

Meantime, Lopes' freshman brother Timmy Lopes hit a grand-slam in his first varsity at bat Friday in a victory over Canyon.

In more Valencia news, outfielder R.J. Mundell has committed to Chapman.
