High School Fencing

The Chaminade Eagles Fencing team competed on the State Level at UC San Diego over the weekend.

In Men's Foil, Chaminade's team (Chris Cashdan, Julian Strutner, Derric Chien, Dominic Saadi) finished 2nd overall. Cashdan finished tied for 3rd.

In Men's Epee, Chaminade's team (Cashdan, Strutner, Galen King, Chien) finished 2nd overall. Senior Chris Cashdan finished seco"cnd.

In Men's Saber, Chaminade's team (Galen King, Nikolas Draghi, Drew Everett, Rusbarsky) fenced well and helped contribute to the men's overall 2nd place finish.

In Women's Foil, Chaminade's team (Rashi Gupta, Natalie Zimdahl, Hennigan, Jovien Chen) finished 1st overall, and Natalie Zimdahl finished tied for 3rd.

In Women's Epee, Chaminade's team (Gupta, Zimdahl, Natasha Boychenko, Chen) finished 1st overall. Natalie Zimdahl finished tied for 3rd.

In Women's Saber, Chaminade's team (Boychenko, Hennigan) finished 1st overall. Natasha Boychenko finished first, claiming the title of 2009 Women's Saber High School State Champion.

After all 6 events were finished, two overall trophies were given out. Chaminade's men finished 2nd overall (narrowly losing to Victor Valley High School), while Chaminade's women finished first overall, and are the 2009 High School State Champions.
