Boys Basketball: Perry to Taft now official

It is finally official.

The rumor going around that 6'5, 240 pound sophomore to be Brandon Perry was transferring to Taft of Woodland Hills from Canyon of Canyon Country has come to fruition.

Taft coach Derrick Taylor confirmed via text message Perry has been granted an inter-district permit and has enrolled at the Woodland Hills campus.

Perry instantly makes Taft better as it now has the legitimate size to contend with Westchester of Los Angeles in the race for the City championship.

Perry steps right into the forward spot vacated by Terran Carter.

"he gives us some much needed size," Taylor said. "I am very excited to add another Division I level talent to this team. I truly believe this is my most talented team since I have been at Taft."

Quite a statement from Taylor, who guided the Toreadors to championships in 2004 and 2008. Taft has also only lost to Cleveland of Reseda in West Valley League play since 2002.

"I am really looking forward to this coming year," Taylor said. "It could be very special."

Perry will team with Bryce Jones, De'Andre Daniels, Spencer Dinwiddie, Pierson Williams, Landon Drew and Khiry Williams to give the Toreadors one of their deepest line-ups in years.
