Football: Harvard-Westlake game cancelled

| | Comments (1) |

Tonight's season opener between Franklin of Los Angeles and Harvard-Westlake of North Hollywood has been cancelled due to air-quality concerns by the Los Angeles Unified School District.

L.A.U.S.D. will not allow Franklin to play west of the 405 fwy.

One option was to move the game to Franklin but Harvard-Westlake officials balked at that idea as too much money, time and effort was put into hosting the game.

Perhaps the writer meant to state "east of the 405" since the LAUSD has no problem with its schools in the West Valley.

Then again, maybe this is why Southern Section schools hesitate to schedule LAUSD schools in sports.
