HS FOOT: Birmingham standout Perry-Brooks expelled

| | Comments (0) |

Davontae Perry-Brooks, a top City Section receiver who had 655 yards receiving in three games, has been expelled from Birmingham of Lake Balboa for disciplinary reasons.

Perry-Brooks, a senior, said he plans to attend Monroe of North Hills beginning on Monday. He is not eligible to play sports.

"I got into some trouble and lost my athletic eligibility for one year," Perry-Brooks said.

Birmingham athletic director Rick Prizant confirmed the expulsion but said he could not comment further.

Perry-Brooks said he plans to play college football but said he must now first attend a junior college.

Birmingham (0-4) was already reeling from the loss of USC-bound running back Trajuan Briggs, who has yet to suit up because of a broken ankle suffered before the opener. He could be back soon.

I'll have more in my Points After Touchdown column on Sunday.
