HS FOOT: It's friendly foes for St. Francis-Alemany

| | Comments (0) |

Alemany of Mission Hills (5-3, 1-0) and St. Francis of La Canada (7-1, 1-0) meet Friday in an important Mission League game, as both are tied for first place with two weeks remaining. The coaches, Dean Herrington from Alemany and Jim Bonds from St. Francis, have roots at Hart of Newhall, and they've been close friends for more than 20 years.

"When I was a sophomore at Hart, Dean was the offensive coordinator. He taught me how to play quarterback," said Jim Bonds, who went on to play at UCLA. "We've had a great friendship ever since, and his brother, Rick, too. We play golf together, we go to sporting events together. It should be an interesting game."

St. Francis' top player, multipurpose back Dietrich Riley, is doubtful because of a hamstring injury. He has missed one game.
