HS FOOT: Huge Marmonte showdown tonight at Westlake

| | Comments (0) |

It's about two hours before kickoff, and it's just getting dark here in Westlake Village, where the Westlake Warriors are getting ready to face visiting Moorpark in a Marmonte League finale for the ages, as both are undefeated at 9-0.

I figured I'd get here early to beat the Friday traffic, so I'm at a restaurant just down the street from the stadium, and sure enough I see fellow guests in Westlake gear and others in Moorpark gear.

It's the first really cold night of the football season, too, so I'm breaking out the heavy jacket and getting ready for what figures to be a great night of football.

Westlake has a terrific offense that averages more than 400 yards and features a top junior quarterback in Nick Isham, a talented receiver in Nelson Spruce and a fast running back in Tavior Mowry.

Moorpark, led by linebacker Marc Palacious, prides itself on defense.

We'll soon see what's going to happen in a showdown that is too close to call.
