HS FOOT: A look at playoff slate
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SEMIFINALS
SOUTHERN SECTION
All games 7:30 p.m unless indicated
FRIDAY
NORTHERN
St. Bonaventure (11-1) at Westlake (12-0), 7 p.m. - Westlake's combo of QB Nick Isham and WR Nelson Spruce has been lethal all season, but can they continue their success against St. Bonaventure's hard-hitting defense?
WESTERN
Dominguez (6-5) at Alemany (9-3) - Alemany looks to end Dominguez's Cinderella season, but the favored Warriors better watch out because they've been susceptible to the run, and that's Dominguez's specialty.
EAST VALLEY
Grace Brethren (7-5) vs. Ontario Christian (6-6) at Moorpark College, 7 p.m. - Two unseeded underdogs go head-to-head in this intriguing small-schools showdown.
SATURDAY
NORTHERN
Moorpark (11-1) at Valencia (12-0), 7 p.m. - Moorpark defeated Valencia by 22 points in the playoffs last year, but the Vikings, led by QB Alex Bishop, RB Steven Manfro and WRs Zach Tartabull and Brock Vereen, have added more weapons in this rematch.
WESTERN
Palmdale (10-2) at Mira Costa (10-2) - After a 49-42 double-OT victory last week, Palmdale finds out if there is anything left in the tank. The key is how tough Palmdale plays the run.
NORTHWEST
Oaks Christian (12-0) at Cathedral (11-1) - Oaks Christian QB Nick Montana and RB Malcolm Jones form quite a combination, as Washington-bound Montana has passed for 29 TDs, and UCLA-bound Jones has scored 34 TDs.
CITY SECTION
FRIDAY, 7 p.m.
DIVISION II
El Camino Real (11-1) vs. Arleta (11-1) at Monroe HS - Defending champion Arleta is top-seeded, but El Camino Real has faced tougher competition in this San Fernando Valley showdown that's too close to call.
EIGHT-MAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Saturday, 1 p.m.
Santa Clarita Christian (8-4) at Faith Baptist (10-2) - It doesn't get better than this, as two arch-rivals go head-to-head in a rematch of last year's final won by Santa Clarita Christian 50-28.
