HS FOOT: Alemany down 14-13 at half

In an exciting hard-hitting first half, Mira Costa leads 14-13 over Alemany at intermission in the Western Division final at College of the Canyons, the difference a failed extra-point by Alemany's Martin Meza.

Alemany scored first on a 2-yard run by Malcolm Marable, driving 80 yards on six plays, highlighted by Marable's 57-yard run to the 2.

Mira Costa answered with an 80-yard drive on seven plays, Rico Wright scoring on a 4-yard run. Kyle Demarco keyed the drive with two completions for 46 yards, including a 32-yard pass to Kyle Nunn.

Alemany again put together an 80-yard scoring drive on 13 plays, gobbling more than seven minutes with Vernon Adams finishing with a 2-yard touchdown run to pull ahead 13-7. Adams rushed for 23 yards on four carries during the drive and also completed a 28-yard pass to Chike Mbanefo.

Alemany amassed 233 yards in the first half. Marable rushed for 99 yards on 12 carries and caught four passes for 30 yards through two quarters, while Adams completed 8 of 14 for 83 yards and added 52 yards on 11 carries.
